Jan 6 - Early Enrichment Center Grand Opening

Many volunteers are needed to help with preparations! Please email if you can join in. Needs include: sewing toddler “sleeping bags”; painting bookshelves; moving tables, chairs, and bookshelves from basement to classrooms; painting creative angles around the classroom doors; providing creative woodwork (trees, clouds, etc.) to cover support columns; preparing/hanging art; giving barely used toys, and donating couches or chairs for the teachers workroom.

Sun Jan 6 through February - Book Study (Forgotten Books of the Bible)

During January and February, the congregation is invited to read Robert Williamson’s new book, Forgotten Books of the Bible. Dr. Williamson, a religious studies professor at Hendrix College in Conway AR, will be preaching and teaching at Idlewild on February 24. Prior to his coming, three groups will be studying the book together:

* Stephen Sunday School (begins January 6)

* Young Adult/Christian Parenting Sunday School class (begins January 20)

* Thursday Morning Bible Study (10:00 a.m. Thursdays at Trezevant, beginning January 18)

You can also read the book on your own. Get it from Novel bookstore, online, or from the church ($14). Please contact Brenda Harris to order a book from the church or if you are interested in a group.

Jan 10-Feb 28 - Kitchen Table Bible Study

Kitchen Table Bible Study will meet Thursdays, January 10–February 28. Choose either mornings (9:30–11:30) or evenings (6:00–8:00). Talking about forgiveness is one thing; really doing it is something else. Whether in our family or daily world, our church or our politics, hurt feelings, betrayal, accidents, mistakes and shortcomings of others and ourselves can eat away at the rest of our Christian walk.

Using the study guide, Forgiveness: Making Peace with the Past, participants will take time to focus on some of what Scripture teaches us about forgiving and why for Christians it is essential.

Everyone is welcome to participate in one of these informal groups of no more than 8 disciples who together grow their faith through Scripture study around the kitchen table in the home of the host and facilitator, Mary Lou McCaa, 684-5427, (5394 Collingwood Cove, 38120).
